The Union Government has approved significant financial allocations for Rajasthan and Telangana under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (PM RKVY) and the Krishonnati Yojana (KY), aimed at strengthening agricultural development and ensuring better support for farmers.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan approved a total allocation of Rs 340.59 crore for Rajasthan and Rs 265.12 crore for Telangana following a review of the implementation and expenditure progress of agricultural programmes in the two states.
Allocations Based on Implementation Progress
The approvals were announced during a virtual meeting chaired by Shri Chouhan from Bhopal with Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Shri Kirori Lal Meena and Telangana Agriculture Minister Shri Tummala Nageswara Rao. Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Secretary Shri Atish Chandra and senior officials from the Union Government and both states also participated.
The financial decisions followed a review of the annual action plans approved by the respective Project Approval Committees (PACs), utilisation of the first Mother Sanctions and expenditure recorded by the states.
For Rajasthan, the PAC approved an annual action plan worth Rs 849.37 crore for 2026-27 on April 20, including a Central share of Rs 509.62 crore. A first Mother Sanction of Rs 216.13 crore was issued on May 4. The state has already spent Rs 164.39 crore, representing 76.06 per cent of the sanctioned amount.
Following the latest approval, Rajasthan will receive Rs 340.59 crore, including Rs 216.12 crore under the RKVY head and Rs 124.47 crore under the Krishonnati Yojana.
Telangana Receives Rs 265.12 Crore
Telangana’s annual action plan for 2026-27, approved during the PAC meeting on April 27, amounts to Rs 651.06 crore, including a Central share of Rs 390.63 crore. The Centre had issued a first Mother Sanction of Rs 157.65 crore on May 12.
The state has so far recorded expenditure of Rs 96.05 crore, equivalent to 60.93 per cent of the sanctioned amount. Based on the implementation progress, the Union Government has approved a total allocation of Rs 265.12 crore for Telangana. This includes Rs 157.66 crore under RKVY and Rs 107.46 crore under the Krishonnati Yojana.
Focus on Farmer-Centric Initiatives
During the meeting, Shri Chouhan praised Telangana for introducing a new model for Farmer ID and fertiliser distribution. He congratulated Agriculture Minister Shri Tummala Nageswara Rao for the initiative and said that such a system could make the delivery of agricultural services more transparent and efficient.
The Union Minister, however, pointed out that expenditure under the Oilseeds and Pulses Missions in Telangana was comparatively behind schedule. He called for regular monitoring of both financial expenditure and implementation to ensure that the intended benefits reach farmers without delays.
For Rajasthan, Shri Chouhan extended his best wishes to the state government for its efforts towards comprehensive agricultural development. He particularly stressed the need to review the status of Kisan Credit Cards so that eligible farmers can obtain institutional credit in a timely and hassle-free manner.
Strengthening Agriculture and Farmer Welfare
Shri Chouhan said the latest approvals are intended to facilitate timely implementation of agricultural programmes and strengthen coordination between the Centre and state governments. He emphasised that the Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is working with states to improve resources, technical support and monitoring mechanisms for the benefit of farmers.
The newly approved funds are expected to support initiatives related to agricultural infrastructure, productivity improvement, farm inputs and farmer welfare. The Centre expressed confidence that the allocations would accelerate implementation of approved programmes in Rajasthan and Telangana and help ensure that government schemes deliver tangible benefits to farming communities.
