The Ministry of Textiles has launched the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 campaign, a nationwide cleanliness and hygiene initiative being observed across organisations under the Ministry from September 17 to October 2, 2026. The campaign seeks to strengthen public participation in cleanliness efforts while promoting hygiene, environmental responsibility and civic awareness.

This year’s campaign is being organised under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat Viksit Bharat”, highlighting the importance of collective participation in creating cleaner and healthier surroundings. The Ministry and its affiliated organisations are conducting a range of activities involving employees, students, civil society groups, local communities and citizens.

As part of the campaign, cleanliness activities are being undertaken across office premises, educational institution campuses and public spaces. The initiatives are designed not only to improve cleanliness but also to encourage people to incorporate hygienic and environmentally responsible practices into their daily lives.

The Ministry of Textiles organised a thematic art and poster-making competition on September 18, 2026, at GPOA-3, Netaji Nagar, New Delhi. The activity provided an opportunity to communicate the message of cleanliness and public participation through creative expression.

Division heads of the Ministry also visited various sections of the office to assess cleanliness and interact with employees. During these visits, employees were encouraged to maintain hygienic surroundings and contribute actively to the objectives of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign.

To increase visibility and public engagement, banners promoting Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 have been uploaded on the dashboards of the Ministry’s website and the websites of its affiliated organisations. Standees have also been placed at prominent locations in office buildings. Dedicated selfie points have been installed to encourage employees and visitors to participate in the campaign and share their involvement.

The Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India Ltd. (CCIC) conducted a Swachhata awareness session on September 17, aimed at informing citizens about the importance of cleanliness in everyday life. The organisation also displayed posters and wall messages on Swachhata and water conservation at various locations within its showroom on September 18.

The Cotton Corporation of India Ltd. (CCI) has undertaken site beautification activities as part of the campaign. The initiative focuses on transforming public spaces into cleaner, more attractive and welcoming areas. Selfie points and creative installations have been introduced to encourage citizens to engage with the campaign, take photographs and share their experiences through social media. The activities are intended to strengthen citizen participation while increasing awareness about cleanliness.

The Textile Committee has also joined the campaign through an awareness drive focused on reducing the use of single-use plastic. Citizens are being encouraged to say no to single-use plastic and understand the importance of conserving natural resources.

Through these activities, the Ministry of Textiles and its organisations are seeking to turn cleanliness into a participatory community effort rather than an activity limited to government premises. The campaign places emphasis on awareness, behavioural change, environmental conservation and active citizen involvement.

The Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign will continue until October 2, with participating organisations expected to undertake further activities to reinforce the message of cleanliness, hygiene and environmental responsibility. The initiative reflects the broader objective of encouraging sustained public participation in maintaining clean, healthy and sustainable surroundings.
