The Government of India has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the interests of Flue-Cured Virginia (FCV) tobacco farmers by closely reviewing the prevailing market conditions in Andhra Pradesh. A high-level delegation from the Department of Commerce visited the state on 25 July 2026 to assess the situation on the ground and discuss measures aimed at ensuring long-term stability for the FCV tobacco sector.
The delegation, led by Additional Secretary Shri Nitin Kumar Yadav, engaged with state officials, the Tobacco Board, and tobacco growers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the challenges facing the industry.
