Indian Bank has sanctioned MSME loans worth nearly ₹500 crore as part of a special credit outreach programme organised in New Delhi during its 120th Foundation Day fortnight celebrations. The initiative reflects the public sector lender’s continued focus on strengthening small businesses, expanding financial inclusion and supporting entrepreneurship across the country.

During the programme, sanction letters were presented to 128 MSME beneficiaries by Indian Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD&CEO) Binod Kumar. The event highlighted the bank’s commitment to providing timely financial assistance to micro, small and medium enterprises, which play a crucial role in employment generation and India’s economic growth.

The credit outreach initiative is part of a nationwide series of activities being conducted by Indian Bank to mark its 120 years of service. The celebrations include mega loan melas, corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, digital banking awareness campaigns and customer engagement initiatives across various regions.

According to the bank, the foundation day celebrations have generated credit proposals amounting to around ₹1,250 crore, indicating a strong pipeline of future business opportunities. The initiative aims to connect more entrepreneurs and customers with accessible banking solutions while accelerating credit flow to productive sectors of the economy.

Launch of Unified MSME Portal

A major highlight of the New Delhi programme was the launch of the Unified MSME Portal, a digital platform designed to simplify and enhance banking services for MSME customers. The portal aims to provide an integrated and convenient banking experience by bringing multiple services together on a single platform.

Through technology-driven solutions, the bank intends to improve accessibility, reduce turnaround time and offer more efficient financial support to small and medium enterprises. The digital initiative is expected to help MSME customers manage their banking requirements more seamlessly while enabling better engagement between businesses and the bank.

MSMEs are considered a key pillar of India’s economic ecosystem, contributing significantly to industrial development, exports and job creation. Recognising their importance, banks and financial institutions have increasingly focused on improving credit availability, digital adoption and customised financial products for small businesses.

Focus on Technology-Led Inclusive Banking

Speaking on the occasion, Indian Bank MD&CEO Binod Kumar said that the bank remains committed to promoting inclusive growth through customer-focused and technology-enabled banking services.

He highlighted that the bank’s long-term vision is to build a ₹35 lakh crore business by 2032. The strategy focuses on strengthening financial inclusion, empowering MSMEs and businesses, and delivering seamless digital banking solutions aligned with India’s economic aspirations.

The bank’s foundation day celebrations serve as a platform to showcase its achievements while reaffirming its commitment to customers and communities. Through initiatives such as loan outreach programmes and digital banking platforms, Indian Bank aims to support businesses at different stages of growth.

Strengthening MSME Ecosystem

The latest credit initiative underlines the bank’s efforts to bridge the financing gap faced by small enterprises. Access to affordable and timely credit remains one of the major factors influencing MSME growth, especially for emerging businesses seeking expansion, technology upgrades and working capital support.

By organising dedicated loan melas and outreach programmes, Indian Bank is attempting to bring banking services closer to entrepreneurs and encourage greater participation in formal financial systems.

As India continues its journey towards becoming a developed economy, strengthening the MSME sector remains a key priority. Financial institutions such as Indian Bank are expected to play an important role by providing credit support, digital solutions and innovative banking services to enable businesses to grow sustainably.

The 120th Foundation Day initiatives demonstrate Indian Bank’s continued evolution from a traditional banking institution into a technology-driven financial partner focused on supporting individuals, enterprises and the broader economy.
