The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is set to strengthen technology-driven growth among enterprises in Karnataka with the inauguration of a new Technology Centre (TC) at Devanahalli, Bengaluru, on September 10, 2026. Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, Hon’ble Minister of State for MSME, will inaugurate the facility in the presence of senior officials, industry representatives and stakeholders from the state.
The inauguration ceremony will also be attended by Shri Krishna Byre Gowda, Minister for Greater Bengaluru Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Karnataka, and Shri Vijayanand Kashappanavar, Minister of Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of Karnataka.
An exhibition highlighting the contribution of Indian MSMEs to the Aerospace and Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sectors will also be organised as part of the event.
Expanding Technology Support for MSMEs
The new Technology Centre is part of the Ministry of MSME’s nationwide network of Technology Centres established to improve the technological capabilities and competitiveness of micro, small and medium enterprises.
These centres provide a range of services, including technology development, industry-oriented training, product design, prototyping, testing and production support. Through such interventions, the network seeks to help MSMEs adopt advanced technologies, improve productivity and develop capabilities required to compete in domestic as well as global markets.
The centres also support the broader objective of building indigenous technological capabilities under the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. By facilitating access to modern manufacturing technologies and skilled manpower, they are expected to contribute to technological self-reliance and the development of a globally competitive manufacturing ecosystem.
₹156 Crore Investment in Bengaluru Centre
The Technology Centre at Bengaluru has been developed by the Ministry of MSME with an investment of ₹156 crore. The Government of Karnataka has provided 10 acres of land for the facility.
The campus includes a dedicated Training Block, Production Block and Administrative Block, along with residential facilities for male and female trainees, staff accommodation, an executive hostel and other supporting infrastructure.
The centre has been designed to cater to the requirements of industries operating in advanced manufacturing and electronics-related fields, while providing MSMEs with access to specialised infrastructure and technical expertise.
Focus on ESDM and Advanced Manufacturing
Electronics System Design and Manufacturing is the principal focus area of the Bengaluru Technology Centre. The facility is equipped with modern machinery and laboratories that will enable MSMEs and other industrial users to access advanced manufacturing technologies.
These include a Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) line, additive manufacturing facilities, CNC 5-axis and 3-axis machines and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) technology. The centre will also provide testing laboratory facilities, design support and business and technical advisory services.
Such facilities are expected to help enterprises improve product development, manufacturing processes, quality standards and overall technological efficiency.
Supporting Bengaluru’s Aerospace and Electronics Ecosystem
The centre is strategically located within a strong industrial and research ecosystem. Bengaluru and its surrounding areas host several major organisations and companies involved in aerospace, defence, semiconductors, electronics and industrial automation.
The surrounding ecosystem includes institutions and companies such as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Airbus, Boeing, Texas Instruments, Mitsubishi Electric India, Philips, Wipro, GE and Centum Electronics, besides a large number of MSMEs.
The proximity to such organisations is expected to create opportunities for collaboration, technology transfer, supplier development and greater integration of MSMEs into high-value industrial supply chains.
Training 10,000 Youth Annually
Skilling is another major component of the new Technology Centre. The facility is equipped to train around 10,000 trainees every year in industry-relevant areas.
Training programmes will cover fields such as embedded system design, printed circuit board (PCB) design and assembly, automation and robotics, as well as maintenance and repair. The industry-oriented programmes are intended to equip young people with practical skills aligned with the requirements of modern manufacturing.
The Bengaluru Technology Centre is therefore expected to emerge as an important institution for strengthening Karnataka’s MSME ecosystem, particularly in the electronics and aerospace sectors. Through advanced design, prototyping, production support, training and consultancy, the centre is poised to support innovation, improve industrial competitiveness and create new employment opportunities while contributing to sustainable economic growth in the state.
