सुबह जल्दी उठकर पानी में गंगाजल मिलाकर स्नान करे.
अपने घर के मंदिर में शिव भगवान के साथ-साथ अन्य देवी-देवताओं की भी पूजा करे.
घर के शिवलिंग या मंदिर के शिवलिंग पर घी के साथ दूध जरूर अर्पित करे.
भोलेनाथ पर गंगाजल जरूर चढ़ाये.
शिव को धतूरा तहा बेलपत्र जरूर से चढ़ाये, भगवान इससे प्रसन्न होते हैं.
सूर्यौदय के बाद ही भगवान को भोग अवश्य लगाए.

करे कुछ खास नियम का पालन-

इस दिन हो सके तो कुवारी लड़कियाँ उपवास रखे, इच्छानुसार वर की प्राप्ति होती हैं.
मांस-मछली न खाये.
मदिरा पान न करे.
शिव का ध्यान लगाए,ब्रम्हचर्य का पालन करे.
