In a major push towards strengthening India’s Industry 4.0 ecosystem, the Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has signed an agreement with Nagpur-based IDT Innovation Technologies Pvt. Ltd. for the development and commercialization of advanced Industrial Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (AIoT) solutions.

The project, titled “Industry 4.0: Development and Commercialization of Industrial AIoT Devices,” is aimed at boosting smart manufacturing capabilities across the country by enabling industries to adopt intelligent monitoring, predictive analytics, and energy-efficient operational systems through indigenous technologies.

The initiative reflects the Government of India’s growing focus on digital industrial transformation and self-reliance under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision. With industries increasingly shifting towards automation and data-driven manufacturing processes, the project is expected to play a key role in enhancing productivity, reducing operational costs, and improving resource utilization in manufacturing units.

IDT Innovation Technologies has developed an integrated industrial AIoT ecosystem that combines proprietary hardware devices with a secure analytics software platform. The ecosystem is designed to support real-time industrial monitoring, machine health assessment, and predictive operational management for factories and industrial facilities.

The hardware suite developed under the project includes advanced actuator monitors, energy meters, machine condition sensors, temperature monitoring systems, electrical health diagnostics tools, and edge-based data acquisition units. These devices work together with a centralized analytics platform capable of collecting, visualizing, and analyzing industrial data in real time.

The software platform enables industries to monitor operational performance continuously, identify inefficiencies, predict machine failures, and take preventive actions before breakdowns occur. Such predictive maintenance capabilities are expected to significantly reduce downtime and improve overall manufacturing efficiency.

One of the major strengths of the proposed solution is its ability to integrate seamlessly with existing industrial infrastructure. The technology is specifically designed for retrofitting older machines and electrical systems, allowing industries to adopt smart manufacturing practices without requiring major capital investments or operational disruptions.

The modular and scalable architecture of the AIoT ecosystem also allows industries to implement the technology in phases according to their operational requirements and budget considerations. This feature is likely to benefit both Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and large-scale manufacturing units seeking affordable digital transformation solutions.

The project is also expected to reduce India’s dependence on imported industrial monitoring and analytics systems, a segment that is currently dominated by international original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). By promoting indigenous alternatives, the initiative aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities, improve supply chain resilience, and support the growth of Indian technology-driven enterprises.

Officials believe that the development of cost-effective and customizable industrial AIoT solutions within the country will make advanced manufacturing technologies more accessible to Indian industries. Increased adoption of such technologies could further contribute to energy conservation, operational optimization, and enhanced industrial competitiveness at the global level.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary of TDB Rajesh Kumar Pathak highlighted the growing importance of Industry 4.0 technologies in shaping the future of manufacturing economies worldwide. He stated that TDB’s support for indigenous Industrial AIoT solutions demonstrates the Government’s commitment towards promoting smart manufacturing, energy-efficient industrial systems, and innovation-led digital transformation in the industrial sector.

The promoters of IDT Innovation Technologies Pvt. Ltd. expressed gratitude for the support extended by TDB and noted that the assistance would accelerate the adoption of the company’s SenseLive™ platform. According to the company, the platform is designed to help industries make data-driven decisions for improving energy management, operational efficiency, and manufacturing productivity.

Industry experts view the collaboration as a significant step toward creating a robust domestic Industry 4.0 ecosystem in India. As manufacturing sectors worldwide increasingly embrace automation, artificial intelligence, and IoT-enabled industrial systems, initiatives such as this are expected to position India as a competitive hub for smart and sustainable manufacturing technologies.

With growing emphasis on digital transformation and indigenous innovation, the TDB-supported project is likely to contribute meaningfully to India’s long-term industrial modernization goals while creating new opportunities for technological advancement and economic growth.
