CCRAS Holds 106th Internal Finance Committee Meeting in Itanagar to Review Research and Institutional Priorities

The 106th meeting of the Internal Finance Committee (IFC) of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) was held at the Regional Ayurveda Research Institute (RARI), Itanagar, with a focus on strengthening scientific research, institutional capacity and the effective implementation of programmes in Ayurveda and allied sciences.

The meeting brought together senior officials and experts from the Ministry of Ayush, CCRAS and other premier institutions to review ongoing activities and discuss future priorities for the Council. The deliberations covered a wide range of areas, including research and development programmes, institutional initiatives, infrastructure development and the efficient utilisation of financial resources.

Meeting Chaired by Senior Ministry Official

The meeting was chaired by Shri Satyajit Paul, Senior Statistical Advisor, Ministry of Ayush. Prof. (Vaidya) Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General, CCRAS and Member Secretary of the IFC, presented the agenda before the Committee and briefed members on the Council’s major achievements, ongoing initiatives and significant accomplishments.

The discussions provided an opportunity to assess the progress of various programmes and identify areas requiring further attention. Members stressed the need for strengthening research capabilities while ensuring that institutional resources are deployed effectively to achieve the objectives of CCRAS.

Focus on Research and Institutional Strengthening

A key focus of the meeting was the continued expansion and strengthening of research and development activities in Ayurveda. The Committee reviewed initiatives intended to enhance scientific research and improve institutional capabilities across CCRAS establishments.

Infrastructure development also featured prominently in the deliberations. Members emphasised the importance of developing and maintaining adequate institutional facilities to support high-quality research and enable the effective implementation of programmes.

The Committee also discussed the importance of collaboration among institutions and stakeholders working in Ayurveda and allied sciences. Greater coordination and knowledge-sharing were viewed as important factors in improving research outcomes and supporting the broader objectives of the Ayush sector.

Translating Research into Public Health Benefits

The Committee underlined that advances in Ayurveda research should ultimately contribute to better healthcare services and wider access to Ayush-based healthcare. Members stressed the importance of translating research findings into practical applications that can benefit communities and strengthen public health.

The discussions highlighted the need for research outcomes to move beyond academic and institutional settings and contribute meaningfully to healthcare delivery. Timely implementation of programmes and effective institutional coordination were identified as important components in achieving this objective.

Senior Officials Participate in Deliberations

The meeting was attended by Dr. A. Raghu, Advisor, Ministry of Ayush; Dr. Santosh Kumar Bhatted, Professor, All India Institute of Ayurveda; Dr. Vivekanandan Kalaiselvan, Secretary-cum-Scientific Director, Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission; Shri Amrendra Singh, Director, IFD; Smt. Vijaylakshmi Bhardwaj, Director, Ministry of Ayush; Shri Deepak Kochhar, Deputy Director (Administration), CCRAS; and Dr. Pratap Makhija, Director (Institute), CCRAS.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Ayush and CCRAS also participated in the meeting and contributed to the deliberations on research, administration, infrastructure and programme implementation.

Appreciation for Financial and Research Performance

The Chairperson and members of the Committee appreciated the progress achieved by CCRAS in various areas, particularly its research and development efforts. The Committee also noted the Council’s 100 per cent utilisation of funds during the last financial year, recognising it as an important indicator of effective financial management and programme implementation.

The meeting concluded with a renewed emphasis on promoting scientific research, strengthening institutional collaboration and ensuring the timely execution of programmes. The Committee reiterated that research and development in Ayurveda should be closely linked with public health needs and should contribute to expanding the reach and impact of Ayush services.

The deliberations at Itanagar thus reaffirmed CCRAS’s commitment to advancing evidence-based research in Ayurveda while strengthening institutional systems and ensuring that scientific achievements translate into tangible benefits for society.
