Rome, May 5, 2026: Agricultural Machinery Market Growth 2026: The agricultural machinery market has started 2026 on a positive note, continuing the upward trajectory seen last year. However, rising geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty could dampen investment sentiment in the coming months.

According to data released by Feder Unacoma, based on registrations from the Italian Ministry of Transport, key machinery segments recorded notable growth in the first quarter.

Tractor sales witnessed a steady rise of 2.7%, with over 3,633 units registered compared to 3,537 units during the same period in 2025. The most significant surge was seen in combine harvesters, which recorded a sharp 65% increase, albeit on a smaller base—33 units compared to 20 units last year.

Telescopic handlers also demonstrated strong performance, growing by 46% to reach 343 units. Meanwhile, trailers remained largely stable, with a marginal dip of 1.5% to 1,659 units.

In contrast, the transporter segment experienced a notable decline. Registrations of tractors with flatbed trailers dropped by 11.8%, totaling 157 units, compared to 178 units in the first quarter of 2025.

Despite the encouraging start, industry stakeholders remain cautious. The ongoing crisis in the Middle East and uncertainties surrounding key incentive schemes—such as the Transition 5.0 tax credit—are expected to influence farmers’ purchasing decisions and investment planning.

FederUnacoma has emphasized the urgent need to fully operationalize policy support mechanisms, including hyper-amortisation benefits and Transition 4.0 incentives. These measures, the association notes, are critical to stabilizing the market and sustaining growth during a period marked by global economic volatility.

As the sector navigates a complex mix of growth opportunities and external risks, the role of government-backed incentives will remain central in shaping the trajectory of the agricultural machinery market in 2026.
