A new book titled Apnapan, authored by Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is set to be formally launched on May 26, 2026, at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium located in the NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi. The event is expected to witness the presence of several prominent political leaders, social thinkers, writers and journalists from across the country.

The book will be released by former Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu in the presence of former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda. The ceremony is also expected to be attended by Union Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers and senior public figures, making it a significant political and literary occasion.

Apnapan presents a deeply personal account of Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s long political and organisational journey alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Drawing from more than three decades of association, the book reflects on the experiences, values and governance principles that Shri Chouhan observed while working with the Prime Minister in various capacities over the years.

The narrative traces their journey from their early days as workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party to their leadership roles in state and national politics. It revisits the period when both leaders served as Chief Ministers in their respective states and later worked together in the Union government after Shri Modi became Prime Minister and Shri Chouhan joined the Union Cabinet.

More than a political memoir, the book focuses on the broader themes of leadership, public service and nation-building. Through personal reflections and experiences, Apnapan attempts to showcase how values-based governance and strong organisational commitment can influence public life and policy-making.

Central ideas such as “Seva”, “Antyodaya”, “Jan Bhagidari”, “Nation First” and “Lok Kalyan” form the philosophical foundation of the book. According to the narrative, these principles have played a key role in shaping governance models focused on inclusive development and public welfare. The book also highlights how determination, clarity of purpose and grassroots engagement can help transform ambitious visions into reality.

In addition, the book explores several dimensions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, including policy initiatives, governance strategies and implementation at the grassroots level. It also discusses the philosophy of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” and its impact on governance and development. The publication is expected to appeal to political workers, young readers, women, entrepreneurs and citizens interested in public administration and leadership.

The book release also brings renewed attention to the long political career of Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Born on March 5, 1959, in Jait village of Budhni tehsil in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district, he became associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh at the age of 15. Later, he joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad during the 1970s and gradually rose through the ranks of youth and organisational politics.

Over the years, Shri Chouhan held several important positions in the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and the Bharatiya Janata Party, including State President, National General Secretary and National Vice President. His electoral journey began in 1990 when he was elected MLA from Budhni, followed by his election to the Lok Sabha from Vidisha in 1991.

In November 2005, he took oath as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and went on to become the state’s longest-serving Chief Minister, holding office from 2005 to 2018 and again from 2020 to 2023. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he returned to Parliament from Vidisha and currently serves in the Union Cabinet overseeing agriculture, farmers welfare and rural development portfolios.

With its blend of personal experiences, political insights and governance philosophy, Apnapan is being viewed as an important addition to contemporary political literature in India.
