In a significant step towards strengthening the industrial ecosystem and enhancing the competitiveness of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art Technology Centre was laid at Khizarsarai in Gaya district of Bihar on Monday. The ceremony was led by Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi and Bihar Chief Minister Shri Samrat Choudhary, beginning with a traditional Bhoomi Pujan.

Senior officials from the Ministry of MSME and the Government of Bihar were also present on the occasion. The project marks a major investment in the region’s industrial infrastructure and is expected to become a key driver of economic development in southern Bihar.

The upcoming Technology Centre will be established with a total investment of ₹170 crore. Of this, approximately ₹86 crore will be utilized for civil construction while around ₹84 crore will be spent on advanced plant and machinery. The centre will be developed on a 20-acre plot provided by the Bihar government and will feature a built-up area of nearly 16,800 square metres.

The facility will include a Production Block, Training Block, Utility Block, Administrative Block, Multipurpose Hall, Hostel and Staff Accommodation. Designed to serve the evolving needs of industries and MSMEs, the centre will focus on sectors such as General Engineering, Heavy Engineering and Textile Testing.

The Ministry of MSME operates a nationwide network of Technology Centres and Extension Centres aimed at improving technological capabilities, skill development and innovation among enterprises. These centres have emerged as important institutions supporting the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by promoting indigenous manufacturing capabilities and technological self-reliance.

Officials stated that the Gaya Technology Centre will provide advanced manufacturing solutions and industry-oriented services to MSMEs located in Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Nalanda, Jehanabad and Munger districts. It is expected to bridge technology gaps, strengthen productivity and help local enterprises integrate with national and global value chains.

One of the key functions of the centre will be providing production-related services. These will include tool room facilities for manufacturing moulds, dies, jigs and fixtures, CNC machining services, CAD/CAM/CAE facilities, rapid prototyping solutions, Industry 4.0 laboratories and renewable energy-based technology solutions.

The centre will also focus heavily on skill development through industry-relevant training programmes. Courses will be offered in emerging and high-demand areas such as CAD/CAM/CAE, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Automation, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Data Analytics, Prototyping, Quality Control, General Engineering, Heavy Engineering and Textiles. These programmes are expected to create a skilled workforce capable of meeting the requirements of modern industries.

In addition to technical training and production support, the centre will offer a wide range of business development and advisory services. MSMEs will receive assistance in market research, prototype development, regulatory compliance, Six Sigma implementation, supply chain management, digital marketing, branding, product design, modernization, automation, innovation and incubation activities.

According to official estimates, the Technology Centre will have the capacity to train around 7,000 individuals annually through short-term and long-term programmes aligned with industry needs. It is also expected to support more than 1,000 MSMEs every year through tooling services and job work activities.

The establishment of the centre is anticipated to generate significant economic benefits for the region. By improving access to advanced technologies, promoting innovation and creating a highly skilled workforce, the project is expected to accelerate industrial growth and entrepreneurship across southern Bihar.

Officials emphasized that the centre will play a transformative role in strengthening the economy of the historic Magadh region. As a hub for technology, training and industrial support services, it is poised to become a catalyst for sustainable development and a valuable contributor to India’s vision of becoming a globally competitive manufacturing powerhouse.
