Japanese technology and home-grown innovation took centre stage at the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026 exhibition on Friday, highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s growing ambitions to emerge as a major destination for advanced manufacturing, agriculture, aerospace and defence industries.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the exhibition and reviewed a range of technologies and products displayed by participating companies. During his tour, he interacted with industry representatives and examined solutions designed to meet the requirements of the Indian market.

The exhibition brought together Japanese-origin technologies and indigenous products, reflecting the expanding industrial partnership between Japan and Uttar Pradesh. The showcase also underlined the state’s efforts to attract investment in sectors involving high-value manufacturing, modern agricultural machinery, aerospace systems and defence equipment.

Advanced Agricultural and Construction Equipment

One of the prominent exhibitors was Escorts Kubota, which displayed its range of agricultural and construction machinery. The company, which has announced an investment of more than ₹2,000 crore in Uttar Pradesh, showcased technologies developed with Japanese expertise for farming and infrastructure applications.

Escorts Kubota has acquired 154 acres on a 90-year lease for establishing a manufacturing facility focused on tractors, construction equipment and components. The proposed centre is expected to be developed in phases over a period of seven years, strengthening the company’s manufacturing presence in the state.

Among the products displayed at the exhibition were a combine harvester priced at approximately ₹27 lakh and a rice transplanter costing around ₹14 lakh. Company representatives highlighted the role of such machinery in improving agricultural productivity and supporting mechanisation.

Product Manager Atsuya Ota said the proposed investment would further expand Escorts Kubota’s manufacturing footprint in Uttar Pradesh and deepen its engagement with the state’s industrial ecosystem.

Indigenous Aerospace Technology

The exhibition also highlighted India’s growing capabilities in deep-tech and aerospace innovation. Maraal Aerospace, an IIT Kanpur-incubated company, showcased its Tejasvaan unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The UAV has been designed for extended operations, offering an endurance of nearly 12 hours and the ability to operate at altitudes of up to 6,000 metres. It can carry a payload of up to five kilograms, making it suitable for a range of applications requiring long-duration aerial operations.

The participation of Maraal Aerospace demonstrated how institutions such as IIT Kanpur and their incubation ecosystems are contributing to the development and commercialisation of indigenous aerospace technologies.

Defence Innovation Takes Spotlight

Defence technology was another major attraction at the exhibition. The Divyastra Mk-1 loitering munition platform was presented as an indigenous, Made-in-India defence system developed under the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor initiative.

The showcase reflected the state’s growing focus on strengthening domestic defence manufacturing and encouraging private-sector participation in advanced military technologies.

MKU also displayed ballistic protection solutions and night-vision systems, offering visitors a glimpse into the capabilities being developed for modern defence and security requirements.

Strengthening UP-Japan Industrial Cooperation

The exhibition provided a platform for demonstrating how Japanese manufacturing expertise and Indian innovation can converge across strategic sectors. From mechanised agriculture and construction equipment to aerospace and defence technologies, the products on display reflected the breadth of opportunities emerging from greater industrial cooperation.

For Uttar Pradesh, the investment meet represents an effort to position the state as a competitive base for future-oriented manufacturing and technology-intensive industries. The participation of companies working in both commercial and strategic sectors also signals the expanding scope of the state’s engagement with Japanese businesses.

The exhibition ultimately reinforced Uttar Pradesh’s vision of building an industrial ecosystem that combines global technology, domestic innovation and advanced manufacturing capabilities. With investments and technology partnerships expanding across sectors, the state is seeking to strengthen its position as a hub for future-ready industries and defence production.
