The Ministry of Ayush organised a joint cleanliness drive at Ayush Bhawan as part of the ongoing Swachhata Hi Sewa 2026 campaign, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining clean, hygienic and well-organised workplaces. The activity was conducted under the government’s ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ initiative, which encourages collective participation in cleanliness and sanitation activities.

The cleanliness programme was held at the front lawn of Ayush Bhawan and was led by the Secretary, Ministry of Ayush. Senior officials and employees of the Ministry actively participated in the drive, contributing to the collective effort to improve cleanliness in and around the workplace.

The Ministry of Ayush is participating in the nationwide Swachhata Hi Sewa 2026 campaign, which is being observed across various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India from September 17 to October 2, 2026. The campaign focuses on strengthening cleanliness practices, encouraging public and institutional participation and promoting responsible management of waste and official records.

As part of the campaign, the Ministry has undertaken several activities aimed at improving workplace hygiene and organisational efficiency. These measures include cleanliness drives, workplace organisation, disposal of obsolete records and systematic management of different categories of waste.

A significant component of the initiative has been the review of old physical files and records maintained by the Ministry. Officials have examined the records to identify documents that are no longer required for administrative or official purposes. Such records are being weeded out in accordance with prescribed government procedures. The exercise is intended to reduce the accumulation of unnecessary files while ensuring that important records continue to be maintained systematically.

The Ministry has also focused on the responsible handling of electronic waste generated through outdated office equipment. Old computers, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, monitors and used printer cartridges have been identified and segregated. The Ministry has initiated action for their auction in accordance with the applicable rules and procedures. The step is aimed at ensuring that obsolete electronic equipment is handled through an organised process rather than being allowed to accumulate in office premises.

In addition to cleanliness and waste-management activities, the Ministry has also sought to promote employee engagement through a sports event for housekeeping staff. The initiative recognises the contribution of housekeeping personnel in maintaining clean and orderly government workplaces while providing them with an opportunity for participation and recreation.

The various activities undertaken under Swachhata Hi Sewa 2026 reflect a broader approach towards cleanliness that extends beyond routine sanitation. Along with physical cleanliness, the Ministry is focusing on better workplace organisation, systematic record management and responsible disposal of obsolete materials.

The joint cleanliness activity under the ‘Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath’ initiative also highlights the importance of collective responsibility in achieving sustainable cleanliness. Participation by senior officials and staff demonstrates the role that coordinated efforts can play in creating cleaner and more organised institutional spaces.

Through these activities, the Ministry of Ayush has reiterated the importance of maintaining a hygienic working environment and adopting systematic practices for the management of records and waste. The initiatives undertaken during the campaign are aimed at strengthening cleanliness consciousness among employees and supporting the broader objectives of Swachhata Hi Sewa 2026.

With the campaign continuing until October 2, the Ministry’s activities underline the significance of sustained participation and institutional commitment towards cleanliness, workplace efficiency and responsible waste management.
