The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, has launched Special Campaign 6.0 to strengthen cleanliness, improve workplace management and accelerate the disposal of pending matters across its offices. The month-long campaign is being conducted from October 2 to October 31, 2026, with a focus on institutionalising Swachhata and creating a more efficient and organised working environment.

A key priority of Special Campaign 6.0 is the systematic management of electronic waste. The Ministry and its attached organisations are undertaking measures for the identification, segregation and disposal of e-waste in accordance with prescribed guidelines. The initiative aims to ensure that obsolete electronic equipment and other discarded materials do not accumulate in office premises and are handled through appropriate disposal mechanisms.

Alongside e-waste management, the campaign focuses on improving the overall cleanliness and utilisation of office spaces. Offices have identified locations for cleanliness drives and are preparing action plans covering space management, beautification of premises, disposal of scrap and removal of redundant items. These activities are intended to make workplaces cleaner, more functional and conducive to efficient public service delivery.

The campaign also gives considerable importance to reducing pendency in administrative and public-facing matters. Pending references, Public Grievances, appeals and Parliamentary Assurances are being reviewed for timely disposal. By setting specific targets and monitoring progress, the Ministry seeks to improve administrative efficiency and ensure that outstanding matters are addressed within defined timelines.

Preparations for the campaign began ahead of its formal launch. The Ministry conducted a preparatory meeting on September 17, 2026, to sensitise officials and stakeholders about the objectives, timelines and key parameters of Special Campaign 6.0. The meeting also provided a platform to formulate a coordinated action plan and establish responsibilities for the effective implementation of various campaign activities.

Nodal Officers and concerned Divisions and Sections of the Ministry have been tasked with setting targets and developing comprehensive action plans. This structured approach is aimed at ensuring that campaign activities are implemented in a coordinated manner and that progress can be assessed against clearly defined objectives.

The Ministry has also sensitised its attached organisations to participate actively in the campaign. Particular attention is being given to field offices that directly provide services to citizens and maintain regular public interaction. Strengthening cleanliness and administrative practices at these locations is expected to improve the experience of citizens and other stakeholders accessing government services.

Special Campaign 6.0 builds on the broader government effort to make cleanliness, efficient disposal of government records and improved workplace management an integral part of routine administration. Rather than treating cleanliness as a one-time exercise, the campaign seeks to encourage sustained practices that can continue beyond the designated campaign period.

For the MSME sector, effective functioning of government offices and timely resolution of public grievances and references are particularly important given the large number of entrepreneurs and enterprises that interact with the Ministry and its associated organisations. Better record management, faster disposal of pending matters and organised office premises can contribute to more responsive public administration.

Through Special Campaign 6.0, the Ministry of MSME is therefore combining cleanliness initiatives with administrative reforms, e-waste management and space optimisation. The Ministry has reiterated its commitment to sustaining these efforts and promoting a cleaner, more organised and efficient workplace culture. The campaign is expected to reinforce the principles of Swachhata while supporting faster disposal of pendency and improved service delivery across its offices and field establishments.
