The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), under the Ministry of Science and Technology, has launched the CSIR Science & Innovation Quiz (CSIR SciQuiz) on the MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) Portal. The initiative has been organised in collaboration with the Department of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, as part of the activities marking CSIR’s 85th Foundation Day.
The quiz, being conducted from September 20 to 26, 2026, is open to all Indian citizens. Designed as an interactive learning initiative, the CSIR SciQuiz seeks to introduce participants to the organisation’s wide-ranging contributions to scientific research, technological development and nation-building.
The quiz consists of multiple-choice questions covering various aspects of CSIR’s scientific journey. Participants will encounter questions related to CSIR’s research achievements, technologies, innovations, institutions and contributions to society and industry.
The subject areas featured in the quiz reflect the broad scope of CSIR’s research activities. These include healthcare, agriculture, environmental protection, infrastructure, energy, aerospace, biotechnology and strategic technologies. Through these themes, the initiative aims to demonstrate how scientific research undertaken by CSIR laboratories is being translated into practical solutions for societal and industrial needs.
CSIR, which operates a network of research laboratories and institutes across the country, has played an important role in strengthening India’s scientific and technological capabilities. The quiz provides citizens with an opportunity to learn about these efforts in an accessible and engaging format.
The initiative places particular emphasis on encouraging scientific curiosity and public participation in science, especially among young people. By combining learning with competition, the organisers aim to create greater awareness about India’s research ecosystem and encourage citizens to explore the role of science and innovation in everyday life and national development.
An additional attraction for participants is the opportunity to win a day visit to a CSIR laboratory of their interest. The CSIR SciQuiz is also envisioned as an ongoing initiative rather than a one-time event. Following the September session, additional quiz sessions are planned on the MY Bharat Portal in the coming months.
