शारदीय नवरात्रि की शुरुआत हो चुकी हैं और नवरात्रि के समापन के बाद दशमी को विजय दशमी का पर्व मनाया जाता हैं. कहा जाता हैं कि इस दिन भगवान श्री राम ने रावण का वध किया था. इसलिए इस दिन रावण का दहन किया जाता हैं और इस दिन को विजय दशमी के नाम से मनाते हैं.

रावण नाम सुनते ही दिमाग में रावण के 10 सिरों की छवि आ जाती है. लेकिन रावण के 10 सिरों को लेकर भी अलग-अलग मान्यताएं है. कुछ लोगों का मानना है कि रावण के 10 सिर नहीं थे. यह कहानी झूठी है. रावण ने सिर्फ अपने 10 सिर होने का भ्रम पैदा किया था. वहीं कुछ मानना है कि रावण के 10 सिर थे. कहा जाता है कि रावण 6 दर्शन और 4 वेदों का ज्ञाता था, इसलिए उसके सिर थे.

आपको बता दें रावण के 10 सिर बुराई का प्रतीक थे और इन 10 सिर का अलग-अलग अर्थ है. क्रोध, काम, लोभ, मोह, द्वेष, घृणा, पक्षपात अहंकार, व्यभिचार और धोखा सभी रावण के 10 सिर के अर्थ है. कुछ धार्मिक ग्रंथों में ऐसा माना गया है कि रावण गले में नौ मणियों की माला पहना करता था और इन्हे 10 सिरों के रूप में दिखाकर भ्रम पैदा करता था.

विजयदशमी यानी कि दशहरा के दिन रावण दहन किया जाता है. इस दिन पारंपरिक मान्यता है कि इस दिन 10 बुराइयों का अंत होता है. व्यक्ति को इन 10 बुराइयों को खुद से दूर रखना चाहिए.

रावण भगवान शिव का बहुत बड़ा भक्त था. कुछ लोगो का मानना है भोलेनाथ को प्रसन्न करने के लिए उसने कई सालों तक कठोर तपस्या की थी और जब भगवान नहीं मैने तो उन्हें प्रसन्न करने के लिए उसने अपने सिर की बलि दे दी थी. इससे प्रसन्न होकर भगवान शिव ने उन्हें 10 सिर का वरदान दिया था.
