The second day of Bharat Tex 2026 underscored the growing role of Indian states in shaping the country’s textile future while highlighting new opportunities emerging from global trade partnerships and free trade agreements (FTAs). The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, manufacturers, exporters, designers and international stakeholders to discuss strategies for strengthening India’s textile ecosystem, attracting investment and expanding the country’s presence in global markets.
Running from July 14 to 17, Bharat Tex 2026 has emerged as one of India’s largest textile and apparel platforms, showcasing the country’s rich textile heritage alongside its modern manufacturing capabilities, technological innovations and export potential.
States Showcase Investment Potential
A major focus of the day’s proceedings was the active participation of state governments, each presenting its strengths in textile manufacturing and investment.
The Uttar Pradesh State Session highlighted the state’s rapidly expanding textile industry, covering apparel, handloom, handicrafts and integrated manufacturing. The session showcased the government’s efforts to build a comprehensive textile value chain and create a favourable environment for domestic and international investors. Senior state leaders discussed initiatives aimed at boosting employment, improving infrastructure and enhancing competitiveness across various textile segments.
Karnataka also presented its vision for the textile and apparel sector, emphasizing its strong industrial ecosystem, skilled workforce and growing manufacturing base. The session highlighted opportunities for businesses looking to establish production facilities or expand sourcing operations in the state.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra focused on strengthening its position as a leading destination for technical textiles. During a dedicated session, the state showcased its growing capabilities in advanced textile manufacturing and technology-driven production. Discussions highlighted the increasing demand for technical textiles across sectors such as healthcare, infrastructure, mobility and industrial applications, positioning Maharashtra as a strategic investment destination.
Strengthening India’s Global Textile Value Chains
International trade and supply chain integration formed another major pillar of the Day 2 programme.
Industry experts deliberated on strategies to strengthen India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities while improving integration with global textile value chains. Discussions emphasized enhancing production efficiency, promoting innovation and enabling Indian enterprises to become reliable partners for international buyers.
Another key discussion examined the growing significance of India’s Free Trade Agreements in expanding export opportunities for textile and apparel manufacturers. Experts noted that favourable trade agreements can improve market access, reduce trade barriers and help Indian companies diversify their export destinations. The conversations also explored how businesses can align sourcing strategies with evolving global trade dynamics.
Brand India and Fashion Leadership
The event also highlighted India’s growing influence in global fashion.
Renowned fashion designers Rahul Mishra and Vaishali Shadangule participated in a session focused on expanding the global footprint of Indian fashion brands. The discussion explored strategies for strengthening Brand India through creativity, craftsmanship and sustainable design while helping Indian labels compete in international retail markets.
A separate fireside conversation examined the journey of building globally competitive fashion enterprises from India. Speakers stressed the importance of innovation, sustainability and scaling up businesses to meet changing consumer expectations worldwide.
Trade Agreements and Sustainable Supply Chains
The international trade agenda gained further momentum through a ministerial discussion on the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). Industry representatives explored how the agreement could strengthen bilateral textile trade, encourage investment and create new opportunities for manufacturers, exporters and sourcing partners in both countries.
Supply chain resilience also received considerable attention during a dedicated session on hemp-based textile value chains. Experts discussed the importance of building diversified, transparent and compliant supply chains that can meet international quality standards while addressing evolving tariff and traceability requirements.
Recognising Sustainability Leadership
Sustainability remained central to the discussions throughout the day.
The CITI Textile Sustainability Awards 2026 honoured organisations demonstrating excellence in responsible business practices. Awards were presented across seven categories, including resource efficiency, energy and emissions management, circular economy, sustainable materials, social responsibility, responsible business practices and industry collaboration. The recognition reflected the industry’s growing commitment to environmentally responsible and socially inclusive growth.
Looking Ahead
The event is set to continue with further state participation, including the visit of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav on the third day. He is expected to interact with exhibitors, encourage entrepreneurs and showcase the state’s expanding textile capabilities.
As Bharat Tex 2026 progresses, it continues to serve as a comprehensive platform connecting governments, industry leaders, manufacturers, exporters, buyers and global partners. The discussions held during Day 2 reinforced India’s commitment to creating investment-friendly textile ecosystems, strengthening global trade partnerships and positioning the country as a competitive, sustainable and innovation-driven textile manufacturing hub.
