Meloni Visits India : नई दिल्ली में भारत के प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के साथ द्विपक्षीय बैठक के बाद मेलोनी ने कहा, “हमने रणनीतिक साझेदार बनने का फैसला किया है, क्योंकि हमारे संबंध बहुत मजबूत हैं।” मेलोनी ने कहा, “भारत और इटली के बीच व्यापार दो साल में दोगुना से अधिक हो गया है और €15 बिलियन ($16 बिलियन) के रिकॉर्ड पर है, लेकिन हमें विश्वास है कि हम और अधिक कर सकते हैं।”
मेलोनी ने भारत के साथ द्विपक्षीय संबंधों की शरुवात की –
कार्यभार संभालने के बाद भारत को अपनी पहली एशियाई यात्रा के रूप में लेने का मेलोनी का निर्णय द्विपक्षीय संबंधों (bilateral relations) को फिर से शुरू करने और राजनयिक घटनाओं की एक श्रृंखला के बाद देश को पश्चिम के करीब ले जाने की उनकी इच्छा को दर्शाता है।इनमें 2012 में दक्षिणी भारतीय लागत से निहत्थे मछुआरों की कथित रूप से हत्या करने के लिए नई दिल्ली के दो इतालवी नौसैनिकों को जेल भेजना भी शामिल है।भारत के पहले होममेड एयरक्राफ्ट कैरियर आईएनएस विक्रांत की क्षमता को अपग्रेड करने और बढ़ाने के लिए इटली के फिनकैंटिएरी की मदद के बाद दोनों देश एक रक्षा सहयोग समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर करने के लिए बातचीत कर रहे हैं।
साझेदारियों को बढ़ावा देने की बात कही गयी –
एक औपचारिक रक्षा समझौता समान साझेदारियों की संभावनाओं को बढ़ाता है। भारतीय रक्षा मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह ने पिछले महीने बेंगलुरू के दक्षिणी भारतीय तकनीकी केंद्र में रक्षा राज्य सचिव माटेओ पेरेगो डी क्रेम्नागो से मुलाकात की।जियोर्जिया मेलोनी 2017 में पाओलो जेंटिलोनी और 2018 में ग्यूसेप कोंटे के बाद भारत का दौरा करने वाली तीसरे प्रधान मंत्री हैं। दोनों नेताओं के रायसीना डायलॉग में एक मंच साझा करने की भी उम्मीद है, जो कि भू-राजनीति पर दक्षिण एशियाई राष्ट्र का मुख्य सुरक्षा सम्मेलन है, जहां मेलोनी हैं मुख्य अतिथि।
