Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the six-day Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, highlighting India’s remarkable transformation in the automobile and mobility sector. Addressing industry leaders, innovators, investors, and policymakers, the Prime Minister said that the country’s mobility ecosystem is undergoing an unprecedented shift driven by the aspirations of its people and the vision of a developed India.

Emphasizing the importance of the automobile industry in India’s growth story, Prime Minister Modi stated that the sector recorded an impressive annual growth rate of 12 percent in the previous year. He noted that the success of the Make in India initiative has significantly strengthened domestic manufacturing and enhanced the global competitiveness of the Indian automotive industry.

The Prime Minister said that India’s journey toward becoming a developed nation will be closely linked with the rapid expansion of the mobility sector. He stressed that innovation, sustainability, and technological advancement are shaping the future of transportation in the country.

Highlighting the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and logistics, Mr. Modi said that India is on track to become one of the world’s most competitive logistics hubs through the implementation of the National Logistics Policy. He added that ensuring ease of travel and seamless connectivity remains a top priority for the government.

The Prime Minister also underscored India’s growing focus on environmentally friendly technologies, including electric vehicles (EVs), hydrogen fuel, biofuels, and other green mobility solutions. He described India as a highly attractive destination for investors seeking opportunities in the rapidly evolving mobility sector.

Speaking about India’s economic progress, Mr. Modi noted that the country is currently the world’s fifth-largest economy and the third-largest passenger vehicle market. He credited Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes for providing fresh momentum to domestic manufacturing, leading to sales worth more than ₹2.25 lakh crore. According to him, these initiatives have generated over 1.5 lakh direct jobs and strengthened India’s industrial ecosystem.

The Prime Minister further revealed that the automotive sector has attracted more than 36 billion US dollars in Foreign Direct Investment over the past four years, reflecting growing global confidence in India’s manufacturing capabilities and economic potential.

Reiterating his vision of the “Seven Cs” for mobility—Common, Connected, Convenient, Congestion-free, Charged, Clean, and Cutting-edge—Mr. Modi said that green mobility is central to India’s transportation strategy. He highlighted the remarkable growth of electric vehicles in the country, noting that EV sales have increased 640 times over the past decade. More than 16.8 lakh electric vehicles were sold in the previous year alone, demonstrating rising consumer acceptance and industry growth.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo has witnessed significant expansion compared to its inaugural edition. Prime Minister Modi pointed out that over 800 exhibitors are participating in this year’s event, while last year’s expo attracted more than 1.5 lakh visitors. He also visited various pavilions showcasing innovative technologies, next-generation vehicles, and advancements across the mobility value chain.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal described Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 as the world’s second-largest event dedicated to the automobile and mobility industry. He highlighted India’s achievements as the largest manufacturer of three-wheelers and tractors globally, reflecting the country’s growing industrial strength.

Union Heavy Industries Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said the expo serves as a platform to showcase the latest technological developments in the automotive sector. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to making India self-reliant in automobile manufacturing and innovation.

Held under the theme “Beyond Boundaries: Co-creating Future Automotive Value Chain,” the expo aims to foster collaboration, sustainability, and technological excellence. With over 5,000 international participants and 800 exhibitors, the event brings together stakeholders from across the global mobility ecosystem. Open to visitors free of charge from January 19 to 22, the expo seeks to strengthen India’s position as a global leader in mobility, innovation, and sustainable transportation.
