Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal is visiting Singapore from August 19 to 21, 2026, as part of India’s continued high-level engagement with the country under the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) framework. The visit is aimed at further strengthening bilateral trade, investment, technology partnerships and business-to-business cooperation.

Accompanying the Minister is a 70-member Indian business delegation representing a wide range of sectors, including technology and artificial intelligence, software, manufacturing, engineering, infrastructure, sustainability, financial services, FinTech, healthcare, life sciences, food and agriculture, logistics, maritime services and professional services.

Focus on Business and Investment Partnerships

The business delegation is scheduled to participate in B2B, G2B and institutional engagements with Singaporean stakeholders. Discussions will centre on investment opportunities, market access, technology cooperation, partnerships and talent development. The delegation will also interact with Centres of Excellence and visit skilling institutions to explore opportunities for collaboration in advanced skills and human-resource development.

The engagements are being organised alongside the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable and the India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR), providing a platform for government and industry leaders to identify new areas of economic cooperation.

4th India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable

Shri Goyal will participate in the fourth ISMR on August 20. The mechanism serves as the highest-level ministerial platform for advancing the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw will also participate. The Indian ministers are expected to engage with their Singaporean counterparts and senior leaders on areas of mutual interest.

The ISMR will be held alongside the fourth India-Singapore Business Roundtable. An MoU signing ceremony and a lunch hosted by Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister will also form part of the programme. Shri Goyal is scheduled to call on Singapore Prime Minister Mr Lawrence Wong at the Istana.

Engagements with Global Businesses

During the visit, Shri Goyal will hold G2B discussions with senior representatives from several prominent institutions and companies, including the Global Finance & Technology Network, YPO Global, Milken Institute, Keppel Infrastructure, Temasek Holdings, IHH Healthcare, Singapore Business Federation, Turner & Townsend and STT GDC.

A Family Office Roundtable will also be held, providing an opportunity to discuss investment and financial cooperation between the two countries.

Promoting Indian Agri-Food Exports

The Minister will jointly visit an APEDA-FairPrice initiative at City Square Mall with Singapore’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade & Industry, Ms Gan Siow Huang. The initiative seeks to expand the presence of Indian agricultural and food products in Singapore’s retail market and further strengthen bilateral agri-trade.

Shri Goyal will additionally participate in the India-Singapore Business Forum organised by FICCI at the INSEAD Asia Campus. He will take part in a fireside chat on “India in the New Global Growth Equation: Growth and Opportunity for Businesses in Asia and the World”, followed by a networking dinner with business representatives from both countries.

The visit will conclude with Shri Goyal’s keynote address at the ICAI ASEAN Conference 2026 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.

Singapore: A Major Economic Partner

Singapore has emerged as a crucial economic and investment partner for India. During FY 2025-26, it was the largest source of FDI into India, contributing USD 19.8 billion. Cumulative FDI inflows from Singapore reached USD 194.68 billion between April 2000 and March 2026, representing 24.72% of India’s total FDI inflows.

Singapore is also India’s largest trading partner within ASEAN. Bilateral trade has grown significantly since the India-Singapore Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement came into force, rising from USD 6.7 billion in FY 2004-05 to USD 36.1 billion in FY 2025-26.

The three-day visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to India-Singapore economic relations, particularly in investment, digitalisation, advanced manufacturing, skills, financial services, agriculture and green technologies. It also underlines India’s commitment to expanding commercial and people-to-people linkages with Singapore as part of its broader strategy to strengthen partnerships across Asia.
