स्टोर में रखा सफेद टीन वाला बक्सा खींच कर कमरें में ला कर पलट देता हूँ . इसमें वो कपड़ें है जो समय या शरीर का साथ नहीं निभा सकें और बक्से को कब्र मान समा गये . लेकिन आज बक्सा नहीं यादों का पिटारा खुला हैं .

इसमें से अनेक सामनों के साथ निकली हैं कानपुर आने पर खुद के पैसों से खरीदी गयी पहली स्वेटर ( हाफ ) . लाल बार्डर वाली इस स्वेटर को दोनों तरफ से पहन सकते थे एक तरफ काला और एक तरफ डार्क क्रीम . इसी स्वेटर के नाम दिल्ली के एक पूरी सर्दी हैं .

बक्से से निकली हैं एक मैरून और सफेद गोल गले वाली फुल स्वेटर जिसे मां , पड़ोस वाली भाभी और दीदी ने मिलकर सयुंक्त रूप से बुना था . और बक्से से निकलता हैं सिलाइयों से भरा एक डब्बा . बरबस ही धुंधला सा दिन सालों पहलें की उजली धूप वाली दोपहर में जा कर खड़ा हो जाता हैं .

बड़ा सा आंगन . घर के काम से फुर्सत पा कर दरी , चटाई या चरपाई पर माँ के साथ बैठी मोहल्ले की महिलाएं . हाथो में थमीं अलग अलग नम्बरों की सिलाइयाँ , उन में उलझी ऊन , और ऊन से दो उल्टे एक सीधें फंदे से बनती स्वेटर .
अनगिनत रंग ,औऱ कभी बूटी तो कभी चौखाने वाली अनेक डिजाइनें .

लेकिन सबसे मजेदार होता था स्वेटर के हर हिस्से के तैयार होने के बाद नाप लेना . गला वी शेप का रखना या गोल या फिर इस पर कॉलर वाला सही रहेगा पर बड़ी बहसें .
फिर पतली बिना गोटियों वाली सिलाइयों से गला उतारा जाना . चूड़ियों की खनक के साथ नाचता ऊन का रंगीन गोला .
कभी मुडहा छोड़ा होना तो कभी बाहों का बड़ा हो जाना .
फिर इन सबके बाद सारे पल्ले सिल कर एक स्वेटर का बदन पर सज जाना . और हमारा एक पल में ही सबसे अमीर हो जाना .

कभी पुरानी तो कभी नई और पुरानी दोनो ऊन से मिलकर बनी स्वेटर .
